“StillStanding” (a group piece for “Matrix” show)
|
“StillStanding” is about “keeping going and standing still, and verticals and horizontals”, according to Ana, who is currently preparing a new group piece for “Matrix” show. A quietly optimistic message is going to be embedded in the performance and my challenge is to emphasize it, as Ana asked me to prepare the visuals for her new production. The most enjoyable part for me will be “The City” animation solo, which is not going to be long, but I’d like it to be quite intense. Ana (with Malcolm‘s assistance) has already designed the soundtrack for the whole piece. The music helps greatly to work on the piece, giving me cues and moods. For “The City” I asked Ana and Malcolm to make something which would be a reminiscent of Buddha chanting and they did it exactly the way I wanted.
The group started rehearsing for the piece about a month ago, along with the other groups and single performers, participating in the “Matrix”. All the rehearsals are spread between the Pegasus studio room and the Drama Studio. “Matrix” is going to be performed on the 3th and 4th of June at the Pegasus Theatre. More information about the “Matrix” is provided by Cafe Reason Butoh Dance Theatre website.
